EOSC-hub to hold co-located event at the Research Data Alliance’s 11th Plenary Meeting in Berlin

The EOSC-hub project will host an event focusing on cloud solutions for science at the next Research Data Alliance’s plenary in Berlin (21-23 March). The EOSC-hub session (full title 'European Open Science Cloud-Related Projects: Liaison with RDA and New Contributions') will be held on the plenary’s final day.

The session’s goal is to present and examine the vision, objectives and complementarities of three Horizon 2020 projects - EOSC-hub, OpenAIRE-Advance and FREYA - that will contribute to the implementation of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). The liaison with existing RDA groups will be presented, and potential new RDA topics will be discussed to support the projects’ vision. The meeting will offer the opportunity to to liaise with interested RDA members from all regions.

Overall, the session will also explore how these projects can engage with the Research Data Alliance's (RDA) network of almost 100 Interest and Working Groups that have developed data recommendations and outputs adopted by institutions across the world. This will be achieved through a discussion on collaboration, gaps and synergies.

Divided in two parts, the session will begin with a presentation of the vision, objectives and approach of EOSC-hub, OpenAIRE-Advance and FREYA. Here, they will focus on the technical and human aspects of the projects, existing engagement with RDA groups, and an overview of relevant RDA Recommendations and Outputs.

The last part of the session will be left for an interactive discussion where the RDA and EOSC projects complement each other, and the definition of the next steps for joint contributions to existing and new RDA groups.

Expected attendees include researchers and research communities, research infrastructure operators and policy makers, libraries, research data management experts and service providers, scholarly communication service providers, research administrators, funders, open science experts.

The session will be EOSC-hub’s first public event following its formal launch this January 2018. To find out more about how to register, visit the event listing.
