PROGRAMME | VENUE PUBLIC DAY | VENUE "ALL HANDS" MEETING | ACCOMMODATION
The first EOSC-hub Week took place on 16-20 April 2018 in Malaga, Spain. The week revolved around two major events: a public day, gathering over 170 stakeholders, and an EOSC-hub "all hands" meeting open only to EOSC-hub partners.
The public day, sponsored by the EGI Foundation, the EUDAT CDI and the XDC project, welcomed the participation of service providers, representatives of the research communities and policy makers engaged in the establishment of the European Open Science Cloud. The day kicked-off with a keynote presentation by Augusto Burgueño Arjona, Head of the "eInfrastructure" Unit, Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT). The programme comprised of four main tracks dedicated to users, service providers, policy and technology. Day 2 was structured around more specific e-infrastructures workshops, such as Computing and Data Management over Clouds with Indigo-Datacloud products, Coupling Data & HPC with EUDAT & PRACE, National e-Infrastructures reports on status and plans of national facilities and research community engagement, etc.
After the EOSC-hub Kick-off meeting, the Malaga "all hands" Meeting was the first opportunity for the over 100 EOSC-hub partners to gather together and discuss the progress and the early achievements of the project. The participation to the "all hands" meeting was open ONLY to the EOSC-hub partners.
FitSM Foundation Training and Certification
FitSM is an open standards family for lightweight IT Service Management (ITSM) and the reference framework being used in both EOSC-hub and EOSCpilot projects. Through FitSM, the project aims at conducting effective IT service management in a federated environment and achieving a baseline level of ITSM that can act in support of ‘management interoperability’ in federated environments where disparate organisations must cooperate to manage services. The Foundation level training provides an introduction to the basic IT service management concepts and terms, outlines the purpose and structure of FitSM standards and their relationship to other standards and understand the process framework underlying FitSM, and details the formal requirements defined within it.
The EOSC-hub all-hands meeting offered the opportunity to be trained in FitSM as well as to receive a formal certification backed by certification authority ICO-Cert for anyone successfull passing the exam (20 multiple choice questions, 13 required to pass). Both the costs of the training and the exam was covered and offered by the EOSC-hub project for free. The training took place on Thursday afternoon (19 Apr) and Friday morning (20 Apr), ensuring minimal overlap with other project meetings.
REGISTRATION IS CLOSED. If you have questions on the event please contact events@eosc-hub.eu
