A local data sharing platform in Shanghai, China, is the first non-European platform to join the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Resources Center (SSTIR) has become its first member outside of Europe.
SSTIR is a research and development resource integration big data platform which support the city’s push to become an innovation hub with global influence.
EOSC began in 2016 to enable a new paradigm of transparent, data-driven science and innovation. It provides a virtual environment with open, seamless services for storage, management, analysis and use of research data, across borders and disciplines. It now has 125 members, providing 240 programs. SSTIR offers one service on EOSC: the public R&D resources graph of artificial intelligence in Shanghai. The service offers access to English papers, patents, books and other data.
Zhu Yue, chief executive office of SSTIR, said, “It’s a very important step for SSTIR. Through EOSC, we can show European researchers the development of AI in China, and attract more talent from across the world. The EOSC will be a bridge between China and Europe and create more international cooperation opportunities.”
