The FREYA PID Commons and the PID Federation

One of the pillars of FREYA is the PID Commons, concerned with sustainability of the overall PID infrastructure and founded on good self-governance based on consensual decision-making. During the project, the idea of a “PID federation” arose, as a coordinated community of stakeholders in PIDs representing different voices. Clearly such a federation would have a role in sustainability. FREYA conducted a wide-ranging consultation on the scope and prospects of the PID federation, and this session will summarise the findings of the study and examine its implications for the sustainability of the PID infrastructure and how it relates to the original vision of the PID Commons.
