The EC recently published its Strategic Working Document (SWD) on the Implementation Roadmap for the European Open Science Cloud. And until 22 March the ESFRI clusters could submit their cluster proposals.
In my presentation, I will try to connect the policy framework with the vision from Social Sciences & Humanities on realising the cloud.
Key issues (from the Roadmap) are
- Reduce the current fragmentation to a situation where data is easy to store, find, share and re-use.
- How to realise the integration of services and the federation mechanism.
- How to realise a federated and inclusive EOSC.
- How to make the cloud act as a trusted platform between research data needs and cloud-based scientific services in the private marketplace.
- How to connect shared resources as part of the federating core, with horizontal services and a large number of research data infrastructures (as federated services).
The SSH approach is to contribute to EOSC by
- Following a technical and human-centric approach.
- Have an inclusive approach that requires that researchers are involved, that we look beyond ESFRI’s and include global and pan-European data infrastructures.
- Start acting ‘… as a service’ by integrating e-infra tools & services into the SSH tools & services to end the fragmentation and silos.
