GBIF community webinars aim to improve sustained communication and interaction between the Secretariat and the broader GBIF community, particularly (but not exclusively) the GBIF nodes. By keeping a keen eye on new projects and initiatives within the context of the GBIF strategic plan and annual work programme and implementation plan, we hope that these discussions spark new collaboration and engagement opportunities across the network.

GBIF.ES webinar: Sharing biodiversity data trhough GBIF. An invitation to the business sector

The GBIF Coordination Unit in Spain organizes the GBIF.ES Webinar: Publication of biodiversity data in GBIF. An invitation to the business sector , which will take place on November 12 at 11:30 (Madrid time), with a duration of 1h 30 ′. During this event it will be announced:

  • the role that GBIF Spain plays in accessing information on biodiversity at the national level;
  • the OpenPSD project whose objective is to encourage the publication of data by the private sector;
  • the benefits of publishing biodiversity data through GBIF;
  • the steps to follow during the process.

This webinar is supported by the Spanish Enterprise and Biodiversity Initiative (Fundación Biodiversidad) and LafargeHolcim Spain , a pioneer company in the publication of data through GBIF.ES and which will share its experience in this field.

The main objective of this event is for Spanish companies to know and include the publication of biodiversity data in GBIF among their Corporate Social Responsibility actions.

II GBIF.ES online workshop: Management, visualization and analysis of ecological data using R software (beginner level)

This course aims to lay the foundations to use and develop R in an autonomous way and to use the software to manage, manipulate, visualize and analyze ecology and biodiversity data. Special emphasis is placed on those tools that make it possible to be an efficient user of the program.

The workshop is part of the program of specialization courses of the Higher Council for Scientific Research, which will issue a certificate of use for those students who exceed the objectives set.

GBIF.ES Workshop: Use and management of the GBIF global and national portals

Tuesday, January 21, 2020 - 09:00 to 14:00

This theoretical and practical workshop will focus on explaining how to use the GBIF.ES National Data Portal, supported by guided exercises on its main functionalities. A space will also be left to explore the GBIF International Biodiversity Data Portal (www.gbif.org).
