Event Goal and structure
Following the related BoF, the goal of the “EOSC-related European Projects getting Global: Engaging with the RDA” workshop was to present and examine the vision, objectives and complementarities of the three Horizon 2020 projects (EOSC-hub, OpenAIRE-Advance and FREYA), that will contribute to the implementation of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). The liaison with existing RDA groups was presented, and potential new RDA topics were discussed to support the projects’ vision. The meeting offered the opportunity to liaise with interested RDA members from all regions.
The structure of the event was divided in two parts:
PART I: Presentation of vision, objectives and approach of the three projects individually, with attention to both technical and human aspects. The presentations included the liaison with existing RDA Groups (including a first list of relevant RDA Recommendations and Outputs), their existing engagement with groups and their plans. Thirty minutes were alloted for each project:
PART II: Interactive discussion of complementarities, and the definition of next steps for joint contributions to existing and new RDA groups.
The session was attended by around 70 researchers and research communities, research infrastructure operators and policy makers, libraries, research data management experts and service providers, scholarly communication service providers, research administrators, funders, open science experts.
