As part of the periodic National School for Bioinorganic Chemists organized by the Italian Chemical Society, the present activity aims at training PhD students and post-doctoral fellows in the use of advanced computational methods for the investigation of metal-binding biological systems. In particular, the use of on-line database resources in conjunction with state-of-the-art software for the simulation of the structure and dynamics of metal-binding proteins is addressed.

FitSM training and certification provides crucial help in providing services and improving their management. It provides a common conceptual and process model, sets out straightforward and realistic requirements and links them to supporting materials.

This two-day Advanced level course aims to provide individuals with deeper knowledge of the ITSM processes focusing on service operation and control.

The variety and amount of data to acquire, process and understand in fact has significantly increased, and the typical desktop is no longer sufficient. Even more, large collaborations are necessary to carry out research, involving complex logistics for handling distributed data collection, analysis and management. It is therefore clear that new approaches (computer architectures, software and methodologies) are needed to enhance the scientific research. eScience studies, enacts, and improves the ongoing process of innovation in computationallyintensive or data-intensive research methods; typically, this is carried out collaboratively, often using distributed infrastructure. eScience encompasses all fields of research and addresses all stages of the research lifecycle, from formulation of the research questions, through large scale simulations and data analytics, scientific discovery, up to long-term sharing, reusing, and reapplying of the results, data as well as the relevant tools, processes and knowledge.

CODATA-RDA 2019

The CODATA-RDA Research Data Science Summer School provides training in the foundational skills of Research Data Science.  Contemporary research – particularly when addressing the most significant, transdisciplinary research challenges – cannot be done effectively without a range of skills relating to data. This includes the principles and practice of Open Science and research data management and curation, the use of a range of data platforms and infrastructures, large scale analysis, statistics, visualisation and modelling techniques, software development and annotation and more. We define ‘Research Data Science’ as the ensemble of these skills.

The material covered here is fundamental to all areas of Data Science and hence open to researchers from all disciplines that deal with significant amounts of data. The focus is provide a practical introduction to these topics with extensive labs and seminars.

EBI Hinxton - Joint Instruct-ERIC/CAPRI Workshop on Integrated Modelling of Protein-Protein Interactions

CAPRI (Critical Assessment of Predicted Interactions) is a community wide experiment designed to test methods for predicting the structure of macromolecular complexes based on the known structure of their components.

The meeting program will include an overview of the performance of protein docking and scoring procedures obtained for targets evaluated since the spring of 2013. It will also feature several plenary lectures by prominent scientists, as well as talks by the best CAPRI performers, and/or groups developing innovative computational approaches. CAPRI groups selected for oral representations will be notified, once the predictions for all outstanding targets have been completed.

EOSC-hub Data Platforms for data processing and solutions for publishing and archiving scientific data - PART II

The main objective of this session is to demonstrate how end-users can perform data analysis on large volume of datasets, and produce reusable results following the FAIR principles. During this training track, the latest features of the EGI DataHub, including the interoperability with the EGI Jupyter Notebooks and the EUDAT B2Handle and B2Find services, will be also introduced.

Training on the EOSC-hub AAI: the service provider perspective

This training session will provide an overview of the various integration workflows in support of resource providers’ needs for federated access through the EOSC-hub AAI. These workflows build on standards and open technologies, including SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect, and OAuth 2.0, in order to support the integration of web-based services. The session will also cover more advanced workflows for addressing non-web-based access use cases (e.g. command line and API). In this context techniques for obtaining credentials on behalf of the end-user using OAuth tokens and X509 proxy certificates through online authorities will be presented.

EOSC-hub Data Platforms for data processing and solutions for publishing and archiving scientific data (Part I)

The main objective of this session is to show how EOSC services can be used for managing active research data (i.e. data transfer, storage, and sharing) and for preserving final research data (i.e. data archiving and publishing). During this training, we will give a brief overview of the EUDAT Services in the data life cycle and demonstrate how these services operate and integrate with each other to meet the data management requirements of research communities and comply with the FAIR principles - which require the data to be properly documented, annotated, archived, published and accessible to the wider community.
