EPOS Seismology Meeting 2019

Monday, May 6, 2019 - 12:00 to Wednesday, May 8, 2019 - 15:00

With 15 beneficiaries and 3 associate partners, WP8, EPOS TCS Seismology is the largest work-package in the EPOS-IP project.

This, together with the agreed structure of EPOS Seismology along the three pillars 'waveform services', 'seismological products', and 'hazard and risk services' resulted in a rather compartmentalized organization of the work within the pillars.

After the WP8 kick-off in January 2016, the 2nd and likely final full meeting of WP8 will now happen in Potsdam, Germany, hosted by GFZ, during 6-8 May 2019.

Service Security Challenge 2019 - Forensics and debrief

Tuesday, May 7, 2019 - 09:00 to Wednesday, May 8, 2019 - 10:30

The Security Workshop at the EGI Conference 2019 will address aspects of the recent Service Security Challenge run against the EGI infrastructure, SSC-19.03. The intended audience for the workshop includes system administrators and security contacts, as well as FedCloud users operating services connected to the internet.

Jupyterhub Deployment - hands-on training

Monday, May 6, 2019 - 15:30 to 17:30

Jupyter provides a powerful environment for expressing research ideas as notebooks, where code, test and visualizations are easily combined together on an interactive web-frontend. JupyterHub allows to deploy a multi-user service where users can store and run their own notebooks without the need of installing anything on their computers. This is the technology behind the EGI Notebooks service and other similar Jupyter-based services for research.

Services to support FAIR data

Wednesday, April 24, 2019 - 13:00 to 17:00

OpenAIRERDA Europe, FAIRsFAIR and EOSC-hub are happy to announce a series of three workshops, two in April and one in September, called ‘Services to Support FAIR data’.

This is the second workshop.

The purpose of these workshops is to explore how existing infrastructures can work together and understand how to deliver services that support the creation of FAIR research outputs. The three half-day events, tailored to different audiences, will examine the scholarly and research ecosystem, what exists, what could be modified, and will give insights into optimum service provisioning. They will also be a chance to engage experts and audiences on how to turn FAIR data into reality.

EOSC-hub Data Platforms for data processing and solutions for publishing and archiving scientific data - PART II

Friday, April 12, 2019 - 11:00 to 12:30

The main objective of this session is to demonstrate how end-users can perform data analysis on large volume of datasets, and produce reusable results following the FAIR principles. During this training track, the latest features of the EGI DataHub, including the interoperability with the EGI Jupyter Notebooks and the EUDAT B2Handle and B2Find services, will be also introduced.

Services to Support FAIR Data: from theory to implementation

Friday, April 12, 2019 - 09:00 to 12:30

OpenAIRERDA Europe, FAIRsFAIR and EOSC-hub are happy to announce a series of three workshops ‘Services to Support FAIR data’.

This is the first workshop.

Workshop 1 Services to Support FAIR Data: from theory to implementation

12 April 2019, Prague (Czech Republic)

Workshop 2: Services to support FAIR data

4 April 2019, Vienna (Austria)

Workshop 3: Open Science FAIR

17 September 2019, Porto (Portugal)

The purpose of these workshops is to explore how existing infrastructures can work together and understand how to deliver services that support the creation of FAIR research outputs. The three half-day events, tailored to different audiences, will examine the scholarly and research ecosystem, what exists, what could be modified, and will give insights into optimum service provisioning. They will also be a chance to engage experts and audiences on how to turn FAIR data into reality.

Each workshop will have slightly different objectives and be targeted at different communities. These include service providers, e-infrastructures, national representatives, infrastructure providers and scholarly communication experts. A common thread throughout is to work towards a common set of insights and recommendations to support the scholarly landscape move on in implementing practical services that meet the needs of tomorrow’s FAIR-oriented researchers.

Training on the EOSC-hub AAI: the service provider perspective

Friday, April 12, 2019 - 11:00 to 12:30

This training session will provide an overview of the various integration workflows in support of resource providers’ needs for federated access through the EOSC-hub AAI. These workflows build on standards and open technologies, including SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect, and OAuth 2.0, in order to support the integration of web-based services. The session will also cover more advanced workflows for addressing non-web-based access use cases (e.g. command line and API). In this context techniques for obtaining credentials on behalf of the end-user using OAuth tokens and X509 proxy certificates through online authorities will be presented.

Federation and automate deployment solutions based on the development of INDIGO-DataCloud, Deep-HybridDataCloud, eXtreme-DataCloud

Friday, April 12, 2019 - 09:00 to 10:30

DEEP-Hybrid-DataCloud project aims to promote the integration of specialized, and expensive, hardware under a Hybrid Cloud platform, so it can be used on-demand by researchers of different communities.

XDC project aims at address high-level topics ranging from the federation of storage resources with standard protocols, the policy driven data management based on Quality of Service, data lifecycle management, metadata handling and manipulation, data preprocessing and encryption during ingestion, and smart caching solutions among remote locations.

This training session will provide practical overview on the solutions implemented both at the level of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS within the projects: INDIGO-DataCloud, eXtreme DataCloud (XDC) and DEEP-HybridDataCloud.

EOSC-hub Data Platforms for data processing and solutions for publishing and archiving scientific data (Part I)

Friday, April 12, 2019 - 09:00 to 10:30

The main objective of this session is to show how EOSC services can be used for managing active research data (i.e. data transfer, storage, and sharing) and for preserving final research data (i.e. data archiving and publishing). During this training, we will give a brief overview of the EUDAT Services in the data life cycle and demonstrate how these services operate and integrate with each other to meet the data management requirements of research communities and comply with the FAIR principles - which require the data to be properly documented, annotated, archived, published and accessible to the wider community.
