1st Training about RDM during the EOSC-week in Malaga

Wednesday, April 18, 2018 - 16:00 to 17:30

Research Data Management (RDM) concerns plans, policies, programs and practices that control, protect, deliver and enhance the value of research data. The aim of the training is to present and discuss research data management tools and services and is aimed at researchers and research communities.

Disaster Mitigation Workshop @APAN45

Wednesday, March 28, 2018 - 09:00 to 17:00

Focuses of this workshop at APAN45 are the new case studies and new partners, as well as the collaborations between APAN, EGI and Asi@Connect.

IEEE Workshop on Big Data Governance and Metadata and Management (BDGMM 2018), co-organized by CLARIN

Monday, March 19, 2018 - 09:00 to Tuesday, March 20, 2018 - 18:00

This workshop is co-located with the Research Data Alliance (RDA) Plenary #11 meeting. The IEEE Big Data Governance and Metadata Management (BDGMM) is sponsored by the IEEE Big Data Technical Community (http://bigdata.ieee.org) and the IEEE Standards Association (http://standards.ieee.org/index.html) with the goal to study where there is a need and opportunity for developing IEEE Standards for Big Data governance and metadata management. The BDGMM 2018 follows the successful BDGMM 2017 workshop (https://bigdatawg.nist.gov/bdmm2017.html) held at IEEE Big Data 2017 (http://cci.drexel.edu/bigdata/bigdata2017).

Lightweight Service Management for Research Infrastructures: The FitSM Approach

Tuesday, March 20, 2018 - 15:00 to 16:00

FitSM is a lightweight approach to professionally managing services. It brings order and traceability to a complex area and provides simple, practical support in getting started with ITSM. FitSM training and certification provide crucial help in providing services and improving their management. It provides a common conceptual and process model, sets out straightforward and realistic requirements and links them to supporting materials.

Towards cross infrastructure Operational Security in EOSC-hub

Tuesday, March 20, 2018 - 14:40 to 15:00

The EOSC-hub proposes a new vision to data-driven science, where researchers from all disciplines have easy, integrated and open access to the advanced digital services, scientific instruments, data, knowledge and expertise they need to collaborate to achieve excellence in science, research and innovation.

The process towards the integration of the different security activities will be supported through the development of harmonized policies and procedures, to ensure consistent and coordinated security operations across the services provided in the catalogue.

Coordinating the Operational Security in such a broad environment is a challenge. At the same time it offers many possibilities of a closer collaboration of the already existing security teams active in the distributed infrastructures.

The expertise built, and tools developed in response to specific problems in the different infrastructures can be used in cross-infrastructure co-operations. In this presentation we will present examples for possible collaborations in: Incident Prevention Incident Handling/Coordination * Security Training and Exercises

Environmental Computing Workshop@ISGC2018

Monday, March 19, 2018 - 09:00 to 17:30

In the last decade, we have been witnessing an extreme proliferation of all kinds of IT platforms for environmental research, from HPC code frameworks optimized at the system level to user-friendly web portals for data management. This environmental computing workshop focuses on the most critical phase in creating such platforms: the transition from the prototype stage to the production stage, where only the best infrastructures and systems survive. Starting from the question: “Why do some platforms survive this transition and others not?”, we highlight success strategies for e-Infrastructures in this workshop.

INSTRUCT training course: Advanced methods for the integration of diverse structural data, Florence IT

Monday, February 19, 2018 - 12:30 to Friday, February 23, 2018 - 14:30

This Practical Course co-organized by INSTRUCT and West-Life will introduce and make extensive use of user-friendly e-Science portals to facilitate the adoption of the methods and techniques by the participants in their everyday work. In particular, we will exploit the web-based, cloud-enabled services of the WeNMR and West-Life e-infrastructures, also in collaboration with the European Grid Initiative (EGI). West-Life is a H2020 EU project.

The hands-on sessions will allow the students to try the methods on either pre-packaged or their own research data.

The course will address state-of-the-art tools and facilities.

Topics:

  • Model building in electron maps
  • Cryo-EM analysis of biomolecular assemblies
  • Comparison and integration of techniques
  • Data-driven docking
  • Information-driven docking
  • Design of small-molecule ligands
  • Bio-SAXS
  • MD refinement and simulations
  • SAXS and NMR methods for IDPs
  • Structure validation

Organization of FitSM Foundation training event during the EOSC-hub KoM

Monday, January 8, 2018 - 09:00 to Friday, January 12, 2018 - 18:00

FitSM is a standards family for lightweight IT Service Management (ITSM). The kick-off meeting offers the opportunity to be trained and certified in the FitSM, which is supported by the project. The Foundation level training provides an introduction to the basic IT service management concepts and terms, outlines the purpose and structure of FitSM standards and their relationship to other standards and understand the process framework underlying FitSM, and details the formal requirements defined within it. The training will take place on Mon afternoon (8 Jan) and Tue mid-day (9 Jan), allowing attendance of the opening plenary. Only participants who register in advance can be admitted to the training. A limited number of participants is admitted, however, it is available to any interested project members and is highly recommended for task leaders and WP managers. Other training events will be organized during the project for anyone unable to attend due to clashes.
